December 2020 – SCA Roasting Course (Johannesburg)
Dec 1 @ 9:00 am – Dec 3 @ 4:00 pm

3 day training course @ R8,500.00 (incl VAT) and includes snacks and a cooked lunch as well as the international online exam and certification

Students can take advantage of learning through three stages of knowledge and skills in each module: Foundation, Intermediate and Professional.

We are partnering with Donovan McLagan from Cabal Coffee Roasters in Port Elizabeth to offer the SCA Roasting course to our customers, and anyone else who would be interested. Donovan is an AST, accredited SCA Trainer, and has a huge passion and interest in roasting coffee. To find out more you can visit the SCA website

Learn about the roasting process, including roast cycle, roast levels, identifying defects, the physical changes that beans undergo during the roasting process, as well as workspace management and lean production.

Day 1 – The Foundation level provides a first taste of a specific coffee discipline and is a great way to get insight into a module to help you decide if you want to go on to learn more. The Foundation level requires no previous experience. Courses at this level usually take 1 day.

Day 2 – The Intermediate level is suitable if you are already part of the industry, working in the field covered by the module, and have a firm knowledge of the basic skills. Experience working in the field is recommended for this level. Courses at the Intermediate level usually take a minimum of 2 days.

SCA has a recommendation that at least 3 months need to pass before undertaking the Professional Level in order to provide sufficient time to gain proficiency needed in the areas you’ve been trained in.

Disclaimer: We need a minimum of six (6) registered students in order to proceed with our planning and coordination. Our new planned dates for hosting this course are 1 to 3 December 2020 at Sevenoaks Trading in Johannesburg, South Africa. Once we have secured 6 students we will notify you that the course will proceed as planned
